We are proud to share that Barlop Business Systems was recently featured in The Cannata Report’s CR-Connect Dealer Tour, one of the most respected editorial series in the office technology industry. From One Generation to the Next
Barlop Business Systems was founded in 1983 by Jose and Madelyn Lopez, along with partner Juan Barroso, right here in Miami. What started as a copier dealership grew into a full-service technology partner offering managed IT services, VoIP phone systems, cybersecurity solutions, managed print services, document solutions, and more.
Over the decades, the business evolved. By 2015, Jose had taken full ownership, and a new chapter began as three sisters stepped into leadership roles. Today, Monica Lopez serves as COO and Sales Manager, Michele Lopez leads marketing as CMO, and Mallory Lopez Marino manages finances as CFO. Together, they carry forward the foundation their parents built while bringing fresh energy and new ideas to the company.
Leading With Purpose
The Cannata Report feature highlights something we are deeply proud of: Barlop is a women-owned and minority-owned business. That distinction is not just a label for us. It shapes how we lead, how we hire, and how we serve our clients.
When the sisters stepped into their leadership roles, they recognized the importance of investing in professional development and strategic planning. They brought in a business coach, formalized internal processes, introduced automation tools, and expanded the team to include remote employees. These were not changes for the sake of change. They were intentional steps to position Barlop for long-term success while staying true to the company’s roots.
Loyalty That Speaks for Itself
One of the details in The Cannata Report article that means the most to us is the mention of our team’s tenure. Our very first employee has been with Barlop for 45 years. Our service manager has been here for 27 years. Across our staff of 35, that kind of loyalty is not unusual.
We believe that says more about our company culture than any mission statement ever could. When people stay, it is because they feel valued, supported, and part of something meaningful. The next generation of leadership has made preserving and strengthening that culture a top priority, formalizing the values that were always present but making sure they are felt by every team member.
Miami Is Home, and It Shows
The article also touched on something that is central to how we operate: we believe in supporting the community that supports us. Whenever possible, we use our own customers and local businesses for the services we need. That kind of reciprocity builds real relationships, not just transactions.
That community-first approach has also earned us recognition beyond the technology industry. Barlop was honored with the Latin Builders Association’s “Business Solutions Company of the Year” award, a distinction that reflects our commitment to the South Florida business community and the trust our clients place in us.
