Is this the right printer for you?

Who the KIP 75 Series is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You're a mid-size architecture, engineering, or construction office printing 100-500 D-size sheets a day and need both speed and a 4-roll media deck for fewer paper swaps.
  • You want a single chassis that does printer, MFP with CIS scanner, or production MFP with CCD scanner — the 75 Series covers all three configurations on the same engine.
  • You handle a mix of bond, vellum, and 3-4 mil polyester film and want auto roll switching to keep jobs moving.
  • You can dedicate 220-240V 13A power and a 6 x 7 ft floor footprint near a finished wall.
  • You print mono 600 x 2400 dpi line work — the LED engine holds tight registration on dense vector files like CAD plans.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You only need 8 ppm — the 75 Series is sold in both 8 D and 10 D configurations; the 8 D unit is a few thousand less and uses the same chassis.
  • You start with 2 rolls and want to add 2 more later — KIP supports field upgrade from 2-roll to 4-roll.
  • You need rear stacking instead of top — rear is optional and adds about 30 inches to the rear footprint, plan for it before delivery.
  • You scan original drawings up to 1.6 mm thick — the CIS handles it but image quality is only guaranteed up to 0.25 mm; thicker originals work, just expect softer output.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You need color output — this is a mono engine. Look at the KIP 800 or 900 Color Series if you print color renderings or markups.
  • You're producing more than 600 D-size sheets per hour — step up to the 79 Series at 14 D ppm / 840/hr.
  • You only have 120V power — the 75 Series requires dedicated 220-240V 13A on a NEMA 6-20R receptacle.
  • You don't need a wide-format MFP and only print occasionally — at 587 lb (printer) or 624 lb (MFP), this is a floor-standing production unit, not a casual plotter.
  • You need duplex automatic scanning — the integrated scanners are single-sheet face-up, not duplex ADF.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The KIP 75 Series is the mid-volume monochrome wide-format platform in KIP's lineup — a 36-inch LED-array system built for architecture, engineering, and construction shops printing 100-500 D-size sheets a day. It runs at 8 D ppm (480/hr) or 10 D ppm (600/hr) at 600 x 2400 dpi, with a 2-roll or 4-roll media deck on the same chassis and three configurations: KIP 7570 print-only, KIP 7580 MFP with embedded CIS scanner, and KIP 7590 MFP with KIP 2300 CCD production scanner for higher-end scan-to-file work. The 12" KIP System K touchscreen handles print, copy, and scan with cloud connect to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, SharePoint, plus standard FTP/SMB/USB. Footprint is 63 x 29 x 63 inches and the printer alone weighs 587 lb (MFP weighs 624 lb), running on dedicated 220-240V 13A power — plan a NEMA 6-20R drop before delivery. The thing buyers regret: not budgeting for the 4-roll deck up front. Operators end up swapping bond and vellum rolls all day on a 2-roll unit, and the difference in productivity over a year more than pays for the upgrade.

FAQ

KIP 75 Series, common questions

The questions we get asked most often on this model. If yours isn't here, call (305) 594-0470 and get an answer in about 30 seconds.

Yes, the KIP 75 Series ships with a starter toner cartridge. The starter toner yields approximately 600 grams of black toner, suitable for high-volume printing. Replacement toner cartridges are also 600 grams each, sold in boxes of two. When you lease through us with toner included, you never pay for toner separately.
The KIP 75 Series is a mid-volume monochrome wide-format printer designed for higher output, with speeds of 8 or 10 D-size prints per minute (480-600 per hour) and a 2- or 4-roll media deck. The KIP 71 Series is an entry-level option with slower speeds of 4 or 6 D-size prints per minute (240-360 per hour) and a 1- or 2-roll deck. The 75 Series also offers more advanced configurations, including a production scanner option, and requires 220-240V power, while the 71 Series runs on standard 120V power. For small offices with lower print volumes, the KIP 71 Series may be a more cost-effective choice.
The KIP 75 Series is ideal for mid-size businesses, such as architecture or engineering firms, that print 100-500 D-size sheets daily. Its high-speed output (8-10 D ppm) and optional 4-roll media deck enhance productivity. However, small businesses with lower print volumes may find it excessive. For lighter needs, consider stepping up to a commercial option better suited for smaller operations.
No, the KIP 75 Series is a monochrome-only printer designed for high-volume black-and-white printing. If color output is required, consider alternatives like the KIP 800 or 900 Color Series, which support color printing and are better suited for renderings or marked-up drawings.
